Join us for a unique 2.5-hour experiential workshop designed specifically for Shaw Method teachers. Led by freediving expert Adam De La Mare, this session explores the intersection of breathwork, water confidence, and nervous system regulationβdrawing on techniques from freediving and somatic awareness to deepen your own embodiment and enrich your teaching.
Workshop Overview
Deep Breath x Shaw Method brings together the mindful principles of Shaw Method with restorative breathwork inspired by freediving. Led byΒ British freediver & Master Instructor Adam De La Mare, this 2.5-hour session is designed to help you explore the nervous system, breath, and body awareness in and out of the water.

What to Expect
1. Introduction: The Physiology of Stillness (15 min)
Learn how breath, breath-holding, and immersion in water activate the parasympathetic nervous systemβshifting you into a state of calm, focus, and trust.
2. Breathing Awareness Practical (20 min)
Explore the movement of the chest and diaphragm. Understand the difference between active and passive breathing, and develop greater control through observation and subtle muscular awareness.
3. Guided Breath-Hold Meditation (20 min)
Experience gentle guided breath holds designed to calm the nervous system. Observe shifting body sensations and build confidence while the breath is paused.
4. Changing & Transition Time (15 min)
5. In-Water Practice: Breath & Buoyancy (60 min)
In pairs, you’ll take your breathwork into the poolβpractising slow, mindful breath holds while immersed. This calming, confidence-building session is about presence, partnership, and deep trust in the body and environment.
6. Closing Circle & Reflection (20 min)
A chance to change, re-ground, and share insights with the group. Includes Q&A and reflection time to help integrate your experience.

Nose clip β especially helpful when lying face-down or if nasal sensation is triggering

Swim skin, rash vest, or light wetsuit β breath-holding can lower body temperature; a thermal layer can enhance comfort
