Ever since childhood I have found freedom and adventure in the water. I played for hours with my siblings and friends as a boy, then raced as a teenager and swam (irregularly) for  fitness as an adult. When I discovered the Shaw Method I found yet another dimension to swimming. It’s hard to put into words but it’s a domain of dynamism, economy, fluidity and relaxation.

I showed up one day in Frome Leisure Centre pool as a guinea pig for one of Steven Shaw’s students. I chose a stroke to work on with her. The Butterfly: at which I was already quite competent  but found  a struggle and very hard work- so I  rarely used it. In just 1 hr I had redesigned my stroke and found The Butterfly now effortless, powerful, and graceful. I was smitten with this new method and it began to answer questions I had about the various strokes like ‘How do I do it?!’

“ With the Shaw method I want people to find relaxation, awareness, new states of mind, increased levels of fitness and something fun to learn and do.”

About me: I am a sculptor who lives in Frome with my wife and stepson and with a dog three cats and a tortoise! I have been, in the past, a portrait painter, an actor and a chef and I have a thirty year long passion for transformational learning and coaching. I love just being with people and also excited to get to work with  people and their swimming.  I love seeing them grow and develop.

I’m committed that people take on in life, a lifelong a practise for their wellbeing and fun, whatever it is they find they enjoy and is afit for them.  With the Shaw method I want people to find relaxation, awareness, new states of mind, increased levels of fitness and something fun to learn and do.
