I am an Alexander Technique practitioner and Shaw Method swimming teacher, trained 2016-2019 by Dan Armon in Berlin and 2017 by Steven Shaw in England.

I grew up in the UK and moved to Germany in 1989, where I started my own translation business. I am now based in Berlin, although I also travel regularly to Finland, where I teach the Alexander Technique and swimming workshops.

I discovered the Alexander Technique in 2012, when I attended a swimming workshop with Steven Shaw. After 20 years of sitting at a desk, I really appreciated a method which did not criticise but instead empowered me to take care of my whole self. I now apply the Alexander Technique as a means by which to improve both my physical and mental wellbeing while still enjoying the challenges of a busy professional life.

Having discovered the Alexander Technique later on in life, I am amazed how it has transformed my relationship with the water. Swimming the Shaw Method is different to any other approach to water work that I know: I can now swim in a way which protects my body and prevents injury, conserves energy so that I can carry on for longer and allows for easy, stress-free breathing. I enjoy the whole process of being in the water and love to help others to experience the same joy and ease.
