I grew up in Ireland and was taught to swim aged 5 in a freezing lake.  The bottom was very stony which is why we all learned to get our feet off the ground really quickly!  Since then I have loved getting my feet off the ground, though usually in a nice warm swimming pool.  You are in a completely different plane in the water and I find the freedom to move horizontally is just wonderful.

I saw Steven Shaw swimming and teaching at Champneys Springs and was fascinated.  I had worked in fitness for eight years – doing aerobics, yoga and swimming, and was looking for a new approach.  I qualified as a SM teacher in June 2009 and since then I can’t get enough of it.
