This workshop is for anyone who can swim and/or glide with their face in the water, and can swim at least 5m of backstroke. If you would like to be able to swim a well-timed and free-flowing backstroke, this workshop is for you.
The workshop will help you to learn how to float on your back, and then work through the leg action, the rotation, the arm action, and the rhythm of the stroke.
During the workshop you will discover how to:
- harness the natural buoyancy of your body
- drastically reduce the amount of effort required to swim
- use rotation of the body to maximise streamlining
- recognise the importance of "preparing for movement"
The workshop is structured around pool and dry land sessions. It features video analysis including underwater analysis and a feedback session where pupils can view their own swimming.
